The Evolution of Car Audio Systems into Full-Fledged Media Players
I would bet money that you’ve seen a number of complete entertainment systems competing for your audio and video budget if you’ve done any recent shopping for an automobile sound system. These days, you can get a car with a DVD player, speakers, headphones (some of which are adjustable), and even a dual player so you can listen to music in two different areas of the car.
All of these fantastic and useful gadgets are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the auto sound system, which will make you want to shell out even more cash for it. You may even find some of these with MP3 players that hook up straight to your vehicle’s stereo.
When it comes to the practicality and security of car DVD players, many individuals are still on the fence. That being said, DVD players will always be a staple in home theater systems, and manufacturers will never stop offering tempting bundles that include these devices together with installation at rock-bottom prices. A lot of people think this is a major safety risk for drivers, and I get that. Even in this day and age of multitasking, laptops, cell phones, talk radio, fast food, Starbucks coffee, and irate rear-seat passengers, I’m one of the few who thinks a DVD player might be a great addition to a car to help drown out their complaints.
Please bear with me because I know that many people are wondering how this relates to an automobile sound system. To ensure that rear-seat passengers can view and hear the DVDs being played without disturbing the driver (through noise or flashing lights), some sound system manufacturers are including features that allow for individual headphones and LCD monitors that sit behind the headrests.
No more distracting than listening to an audiobook or dealing with irate kids in the backseat when you’re on the road is the sound of a DVD player cranking away in the background. One of my present and openly confessed obsessions is listening to audiobooks. Some of the novels aren’t appropriate for young readers, which is a major issue with them. When my kids are there for the ride, I try to stick to kid-friendly popular novels and leave Stephanie Plum’s hot and humorous stories for when I’m by myself. This is just one more compelling argument in favor of investing in a car stereo capable of playing MP3s.
There is now the technology to do this, and I anticipate much more technological advancements in the near and distant future pertaining to car audio and entertainment systems. Because we live in a world where technology is always developing, we can expect to see a plethora of fantastic new features that will enhance our everyday commutes.
Whether you’re completely unfamiliar with modern technology, are fiercely opposed to it, or are wholeheartedly embracing it, it shows no indications of slowing down. In other words, you’ll have to accept the fact that conventional wisdom about purchasing car audio systems will soon be out of date. I like to make light of the fact that our culture is quickly catching up to “Jetson’s” future vision. I also strongly regret that I do not have a Rosie. Anyway, it’s great to see that modern car audio systems cater to each customer’s unique needs rather than providing a cookie-cutter experience, even for those riding shotgun.
